To be (Honest) or not to be (honest) . . . That is the question!

When dealing in business it is very easy to get carried away with everything that is going on around you, that you lose sight of who you are and what you stand for. More and more we hear news reports of a business professional that has been on the scam game for years and has taken millions of dollars from their employer or in most cases their customers. After the dust settles on these sort of events, you generally hear that the person started out small and began to justify their actions as time went on, from there it got out of hand and it became and addiction that had to be fed.

The main thing that swings these stories, is that there becomes a point in which the person has been lying to those around them and themselves. The one thing that I have learned about business this week is that it is much harder to be honest with not just those that you work with but also yourself. If we lose our integrity, then what have we got left? Nothing! No one will ever take your word on anything ever again! Be honest …. Be safe!

Dreaming . . . To good to be true?

When it comes to my day-to-day interaction with my coworkers, I may pass someone in the hallway or talk to them in the break room and they will say "Carl, how is your day going?" To which I will almost always answer "I'm living the dream". This is something that I picked up to help me win days were hard and it became something of a mantra to get me through those days and remind me that I truly was, living my dream. Is important to have dreams. dreams to me are a goal that might slightly be out of your reach but something that you would love to do. Each of us in our lives have dreams or goals like this. We even all tend to call them different things, to some they are dreams to others they are goals, and some might even call them bucket list items. It is critical in our lives that we have these dreams, as they give us something to look forward to and something to work towards. With these dreams we know what the ending is or what it should be the real challenge comes from getting there. When I was about 10 years old and living in Northern Ireland I saw concert footage from the red rocks amphitheater just outside of Denver Colorado. I knew that that was somewhere that I wanted to go one day. As a 10-year-old I didn't know how it was going to happen but I knew that someday I would realize that dream. As the years progressed I would eventually move to the United States in my dream would be a step closer. It was not in until 6 months ago that this dream was finally realized, 22 years after. I remember everything about the experience, the smells, the random people that I had made friends with , but most of all I remember how I felt. I had accomplished something that I could only dream of as a child. This feeling has only spurned me on to check off more dreams and realize that I am capable of anything!

The PRE Starts here

So here we are! Where are we exactly, that's right where at the start we are about to put the "PRE" into entrepreneur. The word entrepreneur has always concerns me and maybe scared me. I have always looked at it as someone who is started from nothing and went on to make everything. However, I am much more of an entrepreneur but I've let myself believe. By my very own definition I have been an entrepreneur my entire life. The purpose of this blog is for me to document starting at the baseline and working my way toward something that's being an entrepreneur. Will the journey be quick? Probably not. Will it be easy? Of course it won't! Will it take time and a lot of effort? You Bet! But at the end of the day that is why we are here! I am here to start something from the ground up to make it to push forward with others think I can't do it and do it with a smile on my face knowing that the reward outweighs the problems that I might face. With that said let's start something and make 2017 and better year than those that came before!
